Vinyl Crew Chief

Jon is our vinyl crew chief on the rough end. Jon has shown an increase in learning new things around the plant. Jon spent a lot of time during one of our big projects on the electrical crew helping out and learning. He is always willing to help others and has been a big help on the roof and floor crew. Jon gets after every task he is asked to do and always with a smile on his face. He is currently working on becoming a rough end floater.

The Driver & Set Crew position assists in delivering modular home sections from our factory to customers sites as well as setting the sections onto foundations.

    Roof Crew Member - Detroit Lakes, MN

    Summary 

    Performs a variety of facility maintenance functions to include building / facility maintenance, repair, replacement and / or warehouse duties on structural, mechanical, electrical, HVAC and sanitary systems and related equipment and machinery. Analyzes maintenance repair requests and identifies problems and implements solutions. May be involved in the maintenance of office furniture and equipment and the build out of workstations and other minor facility alterations. Coordinates various vendors and contractors in the maintenance and repair of equipment. Completes preventative maintenance on equipment and building systems. Manages inventory of spare parts to provide maximum uptime on all equipment. Keeps records for preventative maintenance for machines and equipment.

      Onsite Service Technician - Detroit Lakes, MN

      Job Title: Onsite Service Technician

      Department: Customer Service

      Reports to: General Manager

      Summary 

      The primary role is responsible to service all warranty repairs or product replacement from finished product in accordance with the Warranty and Standards and Maintenance guidelines.

                                  Job Title: Rough Plumbing Crew Member

                                  Summary 

                                  Working with a production team or individually, the Rough Plumbing Crew Member assists in routing pipes through wall cavities to create water supply systems. Identifies plumbing and safety concerns applicable to the installation and takes necessary corrective action.  Performs necessary clerical duties related to the project. 

                                  Essential Functions

                                  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics to mark and layout pipes’ path through wall cavities
                                  • Utilize tools such as tubbing cutter, wire brushes, emery cloth, flux, a handheld torch and solder, chop saws and hack saws
                                  • Running vent stacks to the roof and connecting drain lines and water supply lines to main water supply valves
                                  • Install and solder copper pipes
                                  • Seal open pipes with caps
                                  • Uses correct fittings
                                  • Understands correct plumbing codes 
                                  • Ability to show range hood ducts and how to install an insulate them
                                  • Ability to run vent pipes into attics 
                                  • May be cross-trained into other departments to ensure job knowledge progression and a balanced work force

                                  This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Evening work may be required as job duties demand.

                                  • Previous construction, carpentry or plumbing experience preferred 
                                  • Ability to read and understand schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, blueprints, floor plans and work orders for projects
                                  • Ability to use both manual and power tools such as screw guns and belt sander in a safe and correct manner
                                  • Proficient in soldering skills with use of copper pipes
                                  • Knowledge of state plumbing codes
                                  • Ability to perform physical work overhead for extended periods of time
                                  • Ability to use mathematics and measuring devices to calculate length, width, height, depth, etc. 
                                  • Ability to follow written and spoken instruction
                                  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds comfortably and consistently 

                                  Education

                                              Position Summary:

                                              The Production Trainer plays the lead role in training all new hires and leads process and continuous improvement projects. This role will report to the General Manager.

                                              Roles and Responsibilities:

                                              • Training and motivation of all new employees.
                                              • Manages the onboarding process by training production workers at workstations and in classroom settings.
                                              • Performs any additional tasks including leading other training programs such as, safety, quality and continuous improvement as assigned by the production manager or general manager.
                                              • Assists Human Resources and Supervisors with selection of new team members.
                                              • Participates and contributes to projects to meet department goals and objectives.
                                              • Identifies gaps in the new hires skill level to determine the need for additional training and/or performance management.
                                              • Train and certify all personnel on safe operation of all equipment, including forklifts and scissor lifts.
                                              • Prioritize safety and accident prevention.
                                              • Stress to new hires the importance of work attendance and the vital role they fill on the line.
                                              • Manage multiple new hired employees at a time.
                                              • Familiarize new hires with where to find everything in the facility, including (but not limited to) the breakrooms, bathrooms, human resources, emergency exits, etc. 
                                              • Develops new training methods.
                                              • Creates and maintains instruction materials- SOP’s and SWI’s
                                              • Provides ongoing education to employees on process improvement. 
                                              • Develops lesson and workshops to instruct employees on more effective ways to carry out their jobs.
                                              • Ensures the quality and consistency of training content. 
                                              • Adheres to all company policies and operational procedures.
                                              • Promotes understanding of overall company profit and loss though selected projects.
                                              • May be cross trained into other departments to ensure job knowledge progression and a balanced work force.

                                              • Managing 5s throughout the facility.
                                              • Work with the purchasing department on vendor trainings.

                                              Required and Preferred Qualifications:

                                              • 2 + years of training or management experience preferred. 
                                              • Yellow belt certification or must be completed within 1 year of hire.
                                              • Previous carpentry or manufacturing experience preferred.
                                              • Demonstrates ability to influence and teach others.
                                              • Must be able to use Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
                                              • Ability to take accurate measurements.
                                              • Ability to read technical documents and drawings.
                                              • Must poses a strong attention to detail in completing work tasks. 
                                              • Knowledge of basic tools and carpentry skills.
